NieR:Automata is a third-person perspective action RPG set in a post-apocalyptic future. The game takes place on Earth, where humans live in a long-forgotten war against invading aliens, androids, and machines. The game sets in a world where humans are all but extinct, and the planet is overrun by the machines, who the mysterious Overseer leads. The few human survivors live in a city, which is surrounded by a wasteland. The androids of the city are not affected by the invaders, but their programming limits them, and the fighting between machines is destroying the city.

The gameplay consists of a mixture of hack and slash melee combat, shooting, and dodging to avoid damage. The player's character is always in the third-person perspective, except the cutscenes. The player must find ways to defeat the enemies, who are either robots or androids, to progress through the levels. The player can use melee weapons, ranged weapons, and various items to assist in battle. The player can also perform an evasive maneuver by dodging.

The graphics of NieR:Automata are very well done, with a mix of CGI and hand-drawn environments, with realistic lighting effects and a huge variety of interesting and well-designed characters. The game also features an interesting camera system, where the player can move it around the environment and zoom in and out.

The game has a straightforward control scheme, with the player using a combination of the left analog stick and the four buttons on the controller to move, dodge, attack, and use items.

NieR:Automata is an immersive and compelling game that presents the player with various enemies and items to use to progress through the game. The player can also find the hidden items and areas.
